The Role of the Middle School Counselor
School counselors are a very important part of school. Each new school year presents new challenges and experiences to students, but middle school is such an exciting time! Students begin to grow and change and set full steam ahead on the journey of figuring out who they are, where their interests lie, and where they want be in life. Even though it is such an exciting time, middle school often comes with its own special set of challenges - from academics to friendships to career paths. Parents and families see their children begin moving towards becoming adolescents and teenagers, which can be a difficult experience in and of itself. Sports, cell phones, computers, social media, text messages, peer issues, relationship issues, etc. seem to suddenly become more prominent in the lives of students than they ever were before. Middle school counselors are skilled and trained to support students, families, and school communities in navigating this exciting time!

We Promise You Our Best
As Professional School Counselors, we work with students on an individual basis, in small groups and in their classrooms. The focus of the counseling program is on academic skills, career awareness, and personal/social skills. We also attend parent-teacher conferences at the request of the parent/guardian or teacher, as our schedule allows.
Here are some reasons students might want to talk to the School Counselor:
